If someone who is neither known to you nor wearing a doorman's uniform holds a door open for you to walk through, the proper response is to graciously say "thank you". If you can't do that, at least give them a tip.
Well, there was one person who sparked the actual blog entry, but this is an ongoing pet peeve of mine. I've never lived in a city so full of rude, ill-mannered cretins before.
Well I've just returned from London and I've seen some weird stuff happening in the underground but surprise surprise (while I thought the contrary) people were generally quite polite. What city are you from?
I prefer not to post identifying information, but I am currently in the United States. Rudeness is not the norm here (in the U.S.), or at least not in any of the other cities in the U.S. I've lived in.
